General advice for research project applications and
travel applications
Students and doctoral students are not supposed to file applications
here. Instead they should follow this
link.
Introduction
Researchers at the University of Bergen are herby invited to
apply for support for research projects or research related
travels
during the period 4.1.2009 - 3.31.2010. Applicants from other
universities and scientific colleges in Norway are also eligible
for funding
from this foundation. (Universitetet i Oslo, Norges teknisk-naturvitenskapelige
universitet, Universitetet i Tromsø med Norges fiskerihøgskole,
Arkitekthøgskolen i Oslo, Norges handelshøyskole,
Norges idrettshøgskole, Norges landbrukshøgskole,
Norges musikkhøgskole
og Norges veterinærhøgskole.)
Web-based Application Interface
The web based application interface is the same as we used last year.
Text that is too long, see the limitations
given for each text cell, will not be saved. The only workaround
is to shorten the text.
If you do not remember your password, you can request
a new password from the log in page. New users must follow the
new-user-link and get an automatically forwarded password, and then
log on. When logged in you may change the email address you use
to communicate with the system.
There are links to two views of each of your applications on "Your
personal page":
- View application (print version)
- Edit application (do not try to print this view)
The application
shall only be submitted via the web-interface. When
the form is completed and sent, the system will generate
a receipt. This
receipt must be signed and kept by the applicant's department.
NB! It is not possible to edit an application after it is submitted.
For more detailed instructions, see the help functions corresponding
to each part of the application.
If this general advice and the help functions in the form itself
does not answer you questions, please contact post@meltzerfondet.no
IMPORTANT MESSAGE REGARDING SAVING OF APPLICATIONS:
Remember
to use the "Save and quit" or "Save" buttons
to save the applications. Meltzerfondet cannot be held responsible
for "lost" applications.
Advice:
It is possible for two or more users to cooperate and edit
an application using shared userID and password. But remember that
only on user
at a time can be logged on. Draft the application in plain
text in a regular word processor and save it there.
Cut
and paste text into the application form. Max 3 pictures
or diagrammes can be uploaded in each application.
Deadline
Applications must be submitted from "Your personal
page" no
later than
1 December 2009 - 1 PM.
After the deadline it will not be possible to edit or send applications.
Print version of applications will still be accessible.
Submitted applications will be distributed to referees for review.
Language
Applications may be submitted in bokmål, nynorsk or
English.
Paper enclosures - additional info
Eventual paper sent to the foundation will be kept
by the foundat in case it is asked for during the application
evaluation prosess. We have seen, though, that there has hardly
been been
demand
for such additional info. We therefore
advice applicants to use the application form only.
Additional info about the applicant's research environment
may be given by entering an appropriate web-link in the
application
form. This information is not regarded as part of the application.
Meltzerfondet is not responsible for prints, CDs, DVDs etc
received in connection with the applications. Such material
willl not
be returned.
Application evaluation process etc
The foundation will not mail confirmation of receipt of applications.
All applicants are adviced to check the grants given 8 March
2010 at this website: http://meltzerfondet.no/
Applicants
who get grants will also receive a letter with
further instructions from Meltzerfondet.
